Battle Continues Over Recreational Facility On Central Coast

Posted on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 10:20am

The fight over a privately owned recreational facility on the Central Coast is moving from Santa Barbara County Supervisors board room, to a court room.

James Mosby is suing the county over its denial of permits to continue operating the facility just outside of Lompoc, off of Highway 246.

The board decided on a close 3-2 vote that the soccer fields, paintball area, and remote control car facility are incompatible with the area’s agricultural zoning.

The suit claims the county violated its zoning procedures in the denial.

The privately owned recreational facility has been popular with local residents.

That may have been a factor in the Lompoc City Council’s decision this week to issue a letter in support of the suit against the county.
