Santa Barbara County Congresswoman Introduces Legislation to Address Gaps In Maternity Care

Posted on Thursday, April 3, 2014 2:07pm

A congresswoman from Santa Barbara County is co-authoring bipartisan legislation intended to improve access to maternity care.

Democratic Congresswoman Lois Capps of Santa Barbara, and Republican Congressman Michael Burgess of Lewisville, Texas introduced the Improving Access To Maternity Act.

The legislation would provide an incentive for medical professionals to

provide maternity related services in areas where there are identified care shortages.

In exchange for working in problem areas, the health care workers would get assistance with medical school loan repayment.
