Santa Barbara County’s emergency preparedness efforts for some natural disasters received some new affirmation.

The National Weather Service recognized the county as meeting the criteria for two levels of emergency preparedness, StormReady and TsunamiReady.

The designations mean that the county, and its Office of Emergency Management meet stringent criteria for areas like internal and external communication, alert systems, community outreach, and having a comprehensive natural disaster plan to deal with major storms, and tsunamis.
