Posted on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 10:50am

Santa Barbara will be the site of a State Assembly committee hearing on one aspect of the controversial oil and gas industry process of fracking.

The Assembly Select Committee on Coastal Protection will hold an April 11th hearing in the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors chambers, to look at offshore fracking, and current oversight, and regulations in state, and federal waters.

Democractic Assemblyman Das Williams of Santa Barbara, Democratic State Senator Hannah Beth Jackson of Santa Barbara, and Democratic Assemblyman Mark Stone of Monterey Bay are set to take part in the informational hearing.

The committee says it will call panelists from government agencies, the oil and gas industry, and the environmental community.
