Five people are safe, after locking themselves in a safe during a bank robbery in Ventura County.
It happened just before six p.m. Friday, on the 5800 block of East Los Angeles Avenue in Simi Valley. A man wearing a ski mask, and carrying a plastic bag with what appeared to be a gun entered the bank, and demanded money.
He took an undisclosed amount of cash, and ordered the staff into the bank’s safe, and the employees took advantage of that to lock themselves inside.
Police were just arriving at the scene as the man was jumping over a fence in the bank’s parking lot. After a short foot chase, and a brief scuffle, Jeremy Mora of Simi Valley was arrested. The 20 year old man was arrested for robbery, and five counts of kidnapping. Mora wasn’t armed with a gun, but had a pipe wrapped in a plastic bag which appeared to be a gun.
