Santa Barbara County DA’s Office Files Charges Against Two Former High School Coaches Over Allegations Of Attack On Team Member

Posted on Monday, March 10, 2014 8:33am

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s office has filed criminal charges against two former high school wrestling coaches, in connection with an alleged attack on a student.

Prosecutors say 45 year old Chad Johnson, and 22 year old Matthew Giles are facing battery, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor counts.

The charges stem from an incident last December, in which a wresting team member at Lompoc’s Cabrillo High School claims he was assaulted by some fellow team members in an attack orchestrated by Johnson and Giles.

The student has filed a lawsuit over the incident.
