Despite Recent Storms, Rainfall In Santa Barbara County Still Only 46% Of Average For This Time Of Year

Posted on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 12:08am

The drought is nowhere close to being over in Santa Barbara County.

That’s the message from county public works officials, who say despite the heavy rainfall in parts of the county last week, the overall rainfall totals are just 46% of normal for this time in the rainfall season.

Officials say Lake Cachuma is only at about 40% of capacity, with the reservoir fifty feet below full.  Gibraltar is at 32% of capacity, and Jameson is at 30%.

County officials say they are pointing out the numbers to reemphasize the importance of water conservation.
