Posted on Monday, March 3, 2014 12:30am

The rain is over, at least for now in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, but the rainfall totals in some areas are impressive.

In Santa Barbara County, the numbers varied quite a bit.

The totals from Wednesday, through last night ranging from around 2.3 inches of rain in Santa Maria, and Lompoc to 4.6 inches in Solvang.  Lake Cachuma, which is been hard hit by the drought, had an impressive 7.15 inches over the five day long period.

In San Luis Obispo County, the rainfall totals were generally a bit lower for the Wednesday through Sunday period.  In San Luis, 4.1 inches of rain was reported on the Cal Poly campus, while Pismo Beach had 1.8 inches of rain, and Nipomo 1.3 inches.

The totals are still well below average for this time of year in the rainfall season, but the heaviest rainfall for most spots in two years is considered to be a significant start.
