“Green Acres” Actress Dies In Santa Barbara

An actress who appeared in a number of TV series, but was best known for her role as a handyman in the classic sitcom “Green Acres” has died in Santa Barbara.

Mary Grace Canfield had been battling lung cancer.  Her daughter says she died Saturday in a hospice in Santa Barbara.

Canfield appeared in “General Hospital” and the sitcom “Bewitched” during her four decade long career, but she’s best known for her recurring role as handyman Ralph Monroe in “Green Acres.”

She appeared in more than three dozen episodes of the hit sitcom, which starred Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor, and ran from 1965 to 1971.

Canfield was 89 years old.
