The fate of a recreational facility on the Central Coast could be decided tomorrow, after it was shut down due to a zoning violation complaint.
The Mosby Sports and Outdoor Recreational Facility offered a paintball competition area, soccer fields, and a remote control car track on about 20 acres of land east of Lompoc.
The land northwest of the intersection of Highway 246, and Sweeney Road is zoned for agricultural use, and current ordinances don’t allow its use for recreation.
After the operation was shut down following a complaint, the owner applied for rezoning to meet county requirements, as well as for a conditional use permit.
However, the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission voted to deny the request, saying recreational use would be incompatible with adjacent agricultural land.
The owner is appeal the decision to Santa Barbara County Supervisors, who are set to review the issue tomorrow.
