Former Law Enforcement Officer Pleads Guilty To Bank Robbery In San Luis Obispo County

Posted on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 3:18pm

A former Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputy could end up spending more than five years behind bars, after entering a guilty plea to charges he robbed a San Luis Obispo County bank.

Prosecutors say 70 year old Bruce Valentine was wearing a mask when he brandished a handgun, and robbed a Cambria bank last November.

No one was hurt, but the gunman escaped with more than $3,000.

The San Luis Obispo County man was supposed to be in court this week for a preliminary hearing, but entered guilty pleas to robbery, and attempted robbery charges.
