You could see smoke from a fire in the skies above Ventura County today, as part of an effort to reduce the region’s brush fire danger.
The Ventura County Fire Department is conducting a controlled burn starting at around 10 a.m. east of Ventura, in the Barlow, and Sexton Canyon areas.
Plans call for burning just over 20 acres of brush, as part of a vegetation management effort.
The burn is expected to last until around 2 p.m.
Smoke could be visible throughout much of the county.
