A man who was pronounced dead following a traffic accident in Ventura County over the weekend didn’t died as a result of the crash, but from something which happened before it.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office says David Faalevao suffered a disabling medical condition just before the crash.
The 38 year old Ventura man was headed south on Ventura Road in Oxnard around 5 p.m. Saturday, when he stopped at a red light at Ivywood Drive. His SUV started to drift into the intersection into northbound lanes, and it then accelerated, smashing into a tree, and flipping on its side.
Faalevao was pronounced dead at the scene. It was first thought he died from crash related injuries, but an autopsy showed it was from natural causes.
