A man who shot a Central Coast CHP officer in a gun battle has been convicted of attempted murder.
Clifford Scott shot the officer following a car chase, and foot pursuit in the Paso Robles area.
The officer had tracked down the San Diego man. After Scott opened fire, the CHP officer first tried to disable the San Diego man with a Taser, and when that didn’t work, opened fire with his gun.
The 23 year old man was hit multiple times, prompting him to surrender.
The officer recovered from his injuries.
Because of prior convictions, Scott could potentially face life behind bars for the October, 2012 attack.
