Three Adults Arrested, Two Children Placed In Protective Custody Following Central Coast Incident

Posted on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 2:50pm

Three people were arrested, and two children placed in protective custody as a result of efforts to catch a wanted parolee on the Central Coast.

Law enforcement officers received information that Jorge Cortez was at an apartment yesterday on the 1900 block of South Lincoln Street, in Santa Maria.  As they entered the apartment, the 29 year old man jumped out of a window, falling 20 feet and breaking his leg.  He was treated, and then arrested for a parole violation.

Investigators say they found a large amount of methamphetamine in the apartment, some of it on the floor of a bedroom used by a one year old boy, and two year old girl.  They say the drugs were next to toys, and food items.

The parents of the children, identified as Rafael Ceja and Mayra Quintinar, were taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine for sale, and felony child endangerment.
