A proposal to create a new tax on oil production to help financially struggling Santa Barbara County isn’t going to get to voters this June, as many had expected.
The dollar a barrel tax plan appeared to have the narrow majority of support it needed from Santa Barbara County Supervisors to make the ballot.
But, as the measure came up for the key vote yesterday to be placed on the ballot, support crumbled.
