Young Men Caught Following Vandalism In Camarillo Linked By Investigators To String Of Incidents

Posted on Friday, January 17, 2014 12:30pm

An off duty Ventura County Sheriff’s deputy who chased down some vandalism suspects may have actually helped solve a crime spree.

The deputy was in the Las Posas Estates area of Camarillo around 11 Wednesday night when he saw his vehicle had been damaged, and he and his son saw four men fleeing the area, and gave chase.  They called other deputies, and the four men were caught at Central Avenue, near the 101 Freeway.

investigators interviewing the men say they linked the suspects to more than 15 unsolved vandalism cases in the Camarillo area during the last few months, in which homes, vehicles, and mailboxes were damaged with baseball bats.  The four, who are all from Camarillo, were arrested on conspiracy and vandalism charges.
