Firefighters Concerned About Gusty Wind Conditions In Forecast For South Coast

Posted on Thursday, January 9, 2014 10:22am

It may be January, but firefighters are concerned about the brush fire potential on the South Coast today, with a weather system creating gusty wind conditions, and possible sundowner winds in Santa Barbara’s foothills.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department, and the Montecito Fire Department say they’ve beefed up staffing as a precaution.

National Weather Service forecasters say we could see gusts up to 60 miles an hour in Santa Barbara, and Ventura County mountains and foothills.

The gusty wind conditions are expected to remain in the forecast until around 9 a.m. tomorrow.
