You first heard about it yesterday morning, on KCLU.
Drug smugglers from Mexico tried to land a boatload of marijuana on a deserted Ventura County beach early in the morning, using a waiting RV as the getaway vehicle.
But, a deputy on patrol ran into the operation as it was underway near the Ventura-Santa Barbara County line, and by the time a half dozen law enforcement agencies were done yesterday, 14 people were behind bars.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco has details, including how some of the alleged smugglers tried to escape arrest by pretending to be ranch hands.
