While many college students from the South Coast are using their winter break to spend time with family, or to hit the ski slopes, one group from Ventura County is in the middle of an ambitious project.
The dozen students from California Lutheran University, in Thousand Oaks are in Haiti for nearly three weeks, helping some poor villages rebuild in the wake of a deadly 2010 earthquake.
They’re also helping the villages create water purification facilities, and gardens to become more self-sufficient.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco caught up with some of the team members on the job in Haiti.
