The biggest excitement for Santa Barbara Police today happened in their police station.
A man cleaning out a garage found some boxes full of ammunition, including a World War II hand grenade.
He brought the box to the police station at around 11:15 a.m., and once officers realized the grenade was potentially live, they moved the items outside. They evacuated the building’s lobby, and cordoned off the area.
The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad was called, and team members safely removed the ammunition for disposal at the county dump.
The police station was cleared, and reopened.
