Two Teens Arrested Following Brief, But Wild Car Chase In Ventura County

Posted on Friday, December 27, 2013 5:07pm

Two teens are facing charges following a brief, but wild car chase in the Ventura and Oxnard areas.

A Ventura police officer tried to stop a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner at about 3 a.m. Friday morning, on the 2300 block of East Main Street.  The vehicle didn’t yield, and the driver got onto the southbound 101 Freeway, turning off its lights as it hit speeds of 100 miles an hour.

Pursuing officers lost the vehicle when it got off the freeway at Rice Avenue, but discovered it had smashed into a street sign, continued over an embankment, and then came to rest on the southbound shoulder of the freeway.  Officers caught a 17 year old boy, and a 17 year old girl as they tried to flee the scene on foot.  Officers determined the vehicle had been stolen from Oxnard on Thursday.
