There’s been a major spike in the number of DUI arrests in Ventura County during the early phases of an annual crackdown during the end of year holiday season.
140 people have been arrested so far as a part of the “Avoid The 14″ campaign, which involves a coalition of 14 law enforcement agencies in the county. That’s up from 91 during the same ten day period last year. Officials say the good news is that there have been no DUI related deaths in the county since the campaign started December 13th.
Officials say they are planning to beef up DUI patrols during the next week, with special emphasis on Simi Valley, Moorpark, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Port Hueneme, and Oxnard.
