Man Accused Of Attacking Police Office In Ventura County

Posted on Monday, December 23, 2013 12:50am

A man is facing multiple charges after police say he vandalized a vehicle, chased someone with a knife who tried to stop him, and then fought with, and resisted a Simi Valley police officer who tried to arrest him.

It happened at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, in the parking lot of a department store on the 400 block of east Cochran Street in Simi Valley.  Officers were called to the scene by reports of a man vandalizing a car.  A witness confronted Jeffrey Needham, but police say the 36 year old man chased the good samaritan with a knife, until the citizen was able to safely run into a store.

An officer confronted Needham, who refused to surrender.  The officer used a taser to try to control the man, but that didn’t work either.  It took multiple officers to physically restrain, and arrest Needam.  He was arrested for battery on a police officer, and assault with a deadly weapon.
