A species of frog which was once common throughout California is now only found in 24 of the 46 counties where it once lived.
The California Red Legged Frog is listed by the federal government as a threatened species.
They’re still found in Santa Barbara, and parts of Ventura County, but are virtually gone further south.
Researchers are hoping to use eggs from an isolated population of the frogs in Ventura County to re-populate the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation area.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco has the story.
