Two Arrested Following Chase Involving Stolen Caltrans Van

Two men are facing auto theft, obstruction of justice, and felony vandalism charges after a Catrans vehicle was stolen in Ventura County, leading to a chase.

The Caltrans van was reported missing from the 1200 block of Ventura Street in Fillmore around two a.m. yesterday.  Several minutes after the van was reported missing, a Ventura County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle on Los Angeles Avenue, near Vineyard Avenue in El Rio.  Officers tried to stop the van, but the driver refused to yield, leading to a chase ending on the 3000 block of Nyland Avenue, in El Rio.  Jesus Mendez, and Manuel Rodriguez of Fillmore were arrested at the scene.
