Nobody likes the idea of healthy, adoptable dogs and cats being euthanized.
But, due to animal shelter overcrowding, it happens on a regular basis here on the South Coast.
Ventura County is trying to step up its efforts to deal with the issue, with an ordinance requiring mandatory spaying and neutering, unless you get an exemption for breeding purposes.
Ventura County Supervisors approved the controversial proposal yesterday, which will apply to all unincorporated areas of the county.
