100 Firefighters Battling Brush Fire In Ventura County; No Structures Threatened

Posted on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 8:02am

Ventura County firefighters say they are moving towards containment of an approximately 50 acre brushfire which has been burning since early this morning in a remote area outside of Moorpark.

The fire was reported just after 2 a.m., north of the 118 Freeway between Moorpark College, and the Rustic Canyon Golf Course.  Wind gusts of 20 to 30 miles an hour quickly moved the fire through some light brush in the area, but the biggest problem now is a part of the fire in a eucalyptus grove.

More than 100 firefighters are battling the blaze.  No structures have been damaged, and none are currently considered to be threatened.

With the sun up, firefighters are hoping to get a more accurate idea of the acreage actually burned.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
