Ventura County is going to continue to be BMW central for at least another five years.

The Port of Hueneme is the West Coast import hub for the German vehicles, which are now made at plants around the world.

Since 1987, about 1.4 million BMW’s have passed through Ventura County en route to dealers, and their owners.

It’s a big employer at the port, with more than 100 full, and part time workers at a Vehicle Distribution Center, which handles, and inspects the incoming vehicles.

BMW and the Port of Hueneme just signed a five year contract extension for BMW to use the port.
