Some just released statistics from the State Attorney General’s office
show that the number of hate crimes in California is dramatically dropping.
The report released by Attorney General Kamala Harris shows the number of reported hate crimes dropped 12% from 2011 to 2012.
Over the last ten years, the overall number has dropped by 38%.
But, the problem has far from vanished.
930 crimes classified as hate crimes, over issues like race, religion, and sexual orientation occurred statewide in 2012.
Locally, 28 of the crimes were reported in Ventura County in 2012, and eight in Santa Barbara County.
