Authorities believe a vehicle involved in a fatal head on crash on a Central Coast road was speeding.
An SUV, and a car were headed in opposite directions on Betteravia Road in Santa Maria just before six last night, when one drifted over the center line.
The driver of the SUV which drifted onto the wrong side of the road escaped with moderate injuries, but the driver of the other vehicle was killed.
The CHP says road conditions were poor at the time of the accident, but they also believe the driver of the vehicle which caused the accident was traveling 10 to 15 miles an hour over the speed limit.
The name of the victim hasn’t been released yet.
The accident disrupted traffic on the heavily used road for more than two hours.
