Brush Fire In Ventura County Now Fully Contained

A brush fire which caused a scare in Ventura County is now fully contained.

The 64 acre fire started on around the 6800 block of Wheeler Canyon Road around 11 yesterday morning, and briefly threatened some homes.

Crews were on the fire lines overnight, and more than 100 firefighters are on the fire lines today. Ventura County fire officials say the estimated amount of acres burned dropped from 100 acres last night to around 64 today, because more accurate mapping of the fire zone was able to place after daybreak.  It was declared fully contained just after 2 this afternoon.

No homes were damaged.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  Some firefighters are sill on hand, mopping up hot spots.
