Posted on Thursday, November 14, 2013 6:05pm

Firefighters say a 100 acre brushfire in Ventura County, between Santa Paula and Ojai is now 50% contained.

More than 180 firefighters are battling the blaze, which started on the 6800 block of Wheeler Canyon Road around 11 this morning.

Firefighters used air tankers, and helicopters during the day to stop the spread of the fire.  Crews will be on the fire lines overnight, and it’s expected more than 280 people will be involved with the firefighters by mid-morning tomorrow.

No homes have been damaged.

Two firefighters had to be treated for heat exhaustion.

Firefighters had to deal with a second fire in Hammond Canyon late this afternoon, but a team flown to the spot was able to put it out before it could spread.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
