Firefighters are continuing their mopup today of a brush fire which blackened just over 50 acres of land on the Central Coast.
The fire broke out around 10 a.m. Friday, off of Highway 41 between Morro Bay and Atascadero. About a dozen homes were briefly threatened Friday afternoon, but some 200 friefighters aided by air tankers, and helicopters were able to stop the flames. It was contained Friday evening.
Early estimates put the acreage burned at around 75 acres, but GPS mapping over the weekend led to a reduced number of 51 acres.
No homes were damaged. Fire investigators say an off road vehicle accidentally triggered the blaze.
