A man could face more than seven years in prison after prosecutors say he confessed to setting a pair of brush fires in Santa Barbara County.
Warren Clayton Berry intentionally started two fires in the northern part of the county on October 29th, 2011. One of the fires was off of Alisal Road, near Old Coast Highway. The second was off of Highway 101 near Nojoqui Summit. Both fires were quickly extinguished, before they could damage any structures.
The driver of a tractor trailer rig chased Berry after he saw him starting one of the blazes. The arsonist was caught a few miles away, in the El Capitan State Beach area.
Prosecutors say they didn’t offer Berry any kind of a plea deal. He will be sentenced in January.
