Posted on Thursday, October 31, 2013 5:22pm

Three men have been arrested after Ventura County sheriff’s deputies say they tried to rob a Conejo Valley gas station, by first knocking down a clerk, and then spraying her with a fire extinguisher as she tried to escape.

It happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, at a gas station on the 800 block of North Wendy Drive.

The men wore hoods to conceal their faces as they entered the station, and threw the clerk to the ground.  Two of went behind the counter, and searched for money.  As the clerk tried to escape, one of the robbers sprayed her with a fire extinguisher.

The men fled the gas station in different directions.  Omar Simental, Armando Salinas, and Sergio Banuelos from Thousand Oaks were arrested for attempted robbery, and kidnapping.

The clerk wasn’t seriously injured.
