Simi Valley Police To Enforce Ordinance Banning Registered Sex Offenders From Interacting With Children On Halloween

Posted on Thursday, October 31, 2013 11:16am

It’s of course Halloween, and for many homes in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, it means Halloween decorations, as well as treats being passed out to costumed kids.

But, in one Ventura County community, registered sex offenders are banned from decorating their homes, and passing out candy.

Simi Valley passed an ordinance last year banning offenders who live in the city from interacting with kids on Halloween.

Simi Valley Police did a sweep of offenders a few weeks ago to make sure they were in compliance with the law, and to remind them of the Halloween ordinance.

Department officials say they will have officers out tonight specifically looking to see if offenders are in compliance with the city regulation.
