Man Accused Of Starting Duplex Fire in Lompoc While Making Drugs

Investigators say a drug manufacturing operation caused a fire which left several people homeless in Lompoc.

The fire yesterday afternoon was at a duplex on the 800 block of East Airport Avenue.  One unit was gutted, but firefighters were able to save the other unit.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries fighting the fire.

Yesterday evening, Lompoc Police say they arrested Clyde Smith for manufacturing a controlled substance, and causing a fire which caused an injury.  They say the 28 year old man was using a torch to make a marijuana byproduct.
