New Solar Panel System To Help Power Water, Wasterwater Facilities Serving Parts of Ventura, Los Angeles Counties

Posted on Friday, October 18, 2013 5:43pm

Work officially started today on a solar power system which will meet much of the needs for a wastewater treatment facility serving parts of Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties.

The Las Virgenes-Triunfo Joint Powers Authority Solar Power Facility will generate one megawatt of power for the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, and the Triunfo Sanitation District.

Solar City will build the six acre system, and maintain it for the districts, with the districts agreeing to buy the power it generates at a fixed, below market price.

In addition to being more environmentally friendly, officials with the solar power company say it should save the districts about two million dollars over the next two decades.
