A philosophy professor from the Bay Area was offered the chance of a lifetime…to be president of a new college in Ventura County.
The only problem was the new school didn’t have money, a campus, or students. Still, Dr. Ronald McArthur accepted the challenge, and in 1970, became the founding President of Thomas Aquinas College. He retired in 1991, after more than 20 years with the campus, but returned in 2007 to serve as a tutor.
McArthur died today, after a battle with renal disease. He was 89 years old.
