Power Output Reduced For Maintenance At Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant

Posted on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 4:16pm

Work to repair a water pump has led to a reduction in power generation at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.

The Unit 1 reactor is only generating electricity at 50% of capacity, while crews work on a feedwater pump on the non-nuclear side of the plant.

The Unit 2 reactor is working at full power.

There’s no word on how long the Unit 1 reactor will be operating at partial capacity.  The unit’s output was lowered at around 3 p.m. yesterday.
