Santa Barbara County To Look At Plan To Document, Deal With Maintenance Backlog

Santa Barbara County is hundreds of millions of dollars behind on maintenance of its roads, buildings, and other facilities because it doesn’t have the money to properly maintain everything.

Tomorrow, County Supervisors will look at hiring a consultant to document the situation, and develop a 20 year plan to prioritize the use of available resources to deal with the problem.

The County CEO’s office is recommending that County Supervisors approve a $280,000 contract with Roy Jorgensen and Associates for the study, and plan.

County Supervisor Peter Adam has been pushing the county to act on this maintenance issue, and is even behind a proposed ballot measure which would direct the county to make dealing with the maintenance backlog a priority.
