State Transportation Commission Funds Improvements To Highway 246 In Santa Ynez Valley

Posted on Thursday, October 10, 2013 6:21am

Santa Barbara County is going to get a taste of more than $359 million dollars allocated this week by the California Transportation Commission for 36 projects across the state.

The Commission is allocating $755,000 for work on Highway 246, in the Santa Ynez Valley.  The money is intended to widen 246 from Edison Street, and Meadowvale Lane, and to provide left turn lanes to improve safety.

The biggest chunk of the $359 million dollars being allocated statewide, some $140 million, will go to the Bay Area Rapid Transit system, to buy 46 new rail cars, and to beef up service to San Francisco International Airport.
