The governor has appointed an Arroyo Grande City Councilwoman to fill a vacancy on the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors created by the death of the board’s chairman over the summer.
Caren Ray will represent the Fourth District. Ray served five years on the Arroyo Grande Planning Commission, and was elected to the City Council in 2010.
The 45 year old woman is a teacher at Santa Maria High School. There’s no word on when she’ll actually take over the $82,000 a year post.
County Supervisor, and Board Chair Paul Teixeira died in June after suffering a heart attack at his Nipomo home.
