Posted on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 12:40am

A Central Coast man who was a past President of the San Luis Obispo County Farm Bureau has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for stealing more than $40 million dollars from his in-laws, as well as some banks.

John Mark Moore of Nipomo entered guilty pleas last spring to four counts stemming from the thefts over more than a decade.  He had helped his in-laws manage their agriculture related businesses, and was accused of stealing $24 million dollars from them.  Moore was also charged with stealing another $20 million dollars from banks, and some friends.

As the result of a plea deal, he was sentenced to 135 months in prison yesterday.  He’s also been ordered to pay restitution to his victims.
