After some delays, a private rocket company has rescheduled its first ever launch from the Central Coast for this coming weekend.
Space-X is planning to launch is Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force base at 9 a.m. Sunday.
The company has launched five of the rockets from Cape Canaveral in Florida, but this marks the first launch attempt from the West Coast.
Because it’s a test launch, it’s not carrying a large payload.
But, if all goes well, the rocket will carry a small Canadian satellite into orbit.
Space-X gave the Canadian team an 80% discount on what would be its normal launch fee, because this is a test launch.
The Falcon 9 is the first commercial rocket to successfully deliver a payload to the International Space Station.
If the weather is clear enough, the launch should be visible throughout much of the region.
