Tractor Exhaust Called Cause Of Brush Fire In Ventura County

Posted on Thursday, September 19, 2013 7:34pm

Santa Barbara County firefighters say the exhaust from a tractor started a brush fire which burned about 20 acres of land southeast of Santa Maria, near Sisquoc.

The fire was reported off of Tepusquet Road at around 1:30 this afternoon.  At its peak, some 200 firefighters were fighting the fire.

Air tankers were used during the early stages of the blaze, but they were later released.  Firefighters were able to get the upper hand on the fire before sunset.

No structure damage was reported, and no evacuations were ordered.  One firefighter was injured, when his leg was burned by the blaze.
