A pair of raids has resulted in the seizure of more than 10,000 marijuana plants in Ventura County.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Marijuana Eradication Team says more than 9000 plants were found in five plots near the Ortega Trail, a popular motorcycle and hiking trail northwest of Ojai.
A second marijuana grove was found on the southern side of Pine Mountain, and some 1500 plants were seized. Authorities say they found a processing area with 500 pounds of bud at the scene. There was also the carcass of a young bear, which investigators believe was killed by the marijuana growers.
No arrests were made in connection with the marijuana groves.
