Bill By State Senator From Ventura County To Toughen Child Pornography Laws passed By State Legislature

A bill by a State Senator who represents Ventura County which calls for toughening child pornography laws has been passed by the state legislature.

SB 145 would raise the maximum penalty for those with huge collections of child pornography from three, to five years in state prison.  It would also allow judges to give short sentences for less serious offenses.

The bill was authored by Democratic Senator Fran Pavley of Agoura Hills, and was sponsored by Ventura County District Attorney Greg Totten.

The legislation is now on the governor’s desk, awaiting his action.
