UCSB Gets Federal Grant For Ocean Acidification Study

Posted on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 4:36pm

A South Coast university has received a more than half million dollar grant to help efforts to study the impacts of ocean warming, and acidification.

UCSB is getting the funding from the National Science Foundation, so a team of researchers can study invertebrates which are a key to the food chain in Antarctic waters.

The results of the study will be teamed with other National Science Foundation funded research to look at ocean acidification off the West Coast.  It includes the use of sensors in the ocean from off the coast of Oregon, south to the Santa Barbara Channel.
